چکیده

We prove the following property for safe marked graphs, safe conflict-free Petri nets, and live and safe extended free-choice Petri nets. We prove the following three results. If the Petri net is a marked graph, then the length of the shortest path is at most (|T |−1)·|T |/2. If the Petri net is conflict free, then the length of the shortest path is at most (|T |+1)·|T |/2. If the Petri net is live and extended free choice, then the length of the shortest path is at most |T |·|T +1|·|T +2|/6, where T is the set of transitions of the net.

Conditional Hardness for Sensitivity Problems

In recent years it has become popular to study dynamic problems in a sensitivity setting: Instead of allowing for an arbitrary sequence of updates, the sensitivity model only allows to apply batch updates of small size to the original input data. The sensitivity model is particularly appealing since recent strong conditional lower bounds ruled out fast algorithms for many dynamic problems, such...

Exponential Lower Bounds on the Space Complexity of OBDD-Based Graph Algorithms

Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (OBDDs) are a data structure for Boolean functions which is successfully applied in many areas like Integer Programming, Model Checking, and Relational Algebra. Nevertheless, many basic graph problems like Connectivity, Reachability, Single-Source Shortest-Paths, and Flow Maximization are known to be PSPACE-hard if their input graphs are represented by OBDDs. Th...

Upper and lower bounds of symmetric division deg index

Symmetric Division Deg index is one of the 148 discrete Adriatic indices that showed good predictive properties on the testing sets provided by International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry. Symmetric Division Deg index is defined by $$ SDD(G) = sumE left( frac{min{d_u,d_v}}{max{d_u,d_v}} + frac{max{d_u,d_v}}{min{d_u,d_v}} right), $$ where $d_i$ is the degree of vertex $i$ in graph $G$. In th...

Reachability Queries in Public Transport Networks

Given a query point in a spatial network, the reachability query retrieves all points of interest that are reachable from the query point in a specific amount of time respecting network constraints. Reachability queries have a number of interesting applications, and for road networks efficient solutions have been proposed. Road networks are time-independent, i.e., the cost for traversing an edg...

Average Costs of a Graph Exploration: Upper and Lower Bounds

We consider the exploration of random graphs. We give upper and lower bounds for the expected number of edges traversed during an exploration. This result implies a lower bound for the expected running time of a wide class of algorithms { e.g. Breadth-First-Search, Depth-First-Search, and algorithms to determine a minimum spanning tree or to solve the single source shortest paths problem in a w...
